Pet Behavior Tips

Socializing isn't just for puppies!

Dogs of all ages benefit from positive exposure to new people, pets, and environments.  Go at your dog's pace, reward calm behavior, and make every new exprience a positive one!

Struggling with a shy or nervous pup?

Start small.  A quiet park, a calm friend, a short walk downtown.  Gradual, positive experiences help your dog build confidence in the world around them.

Did you know?

Lack of proper socialization is one of the top causes of fear-based behaviors in dogs.

Give your pup the gift of confidence- Introduce new things slowly, use positive reinforcement, and keep it fun!!

Tip for new puppy parents:

Socialization isn't about overwhelming your pup - It's about gently introducing them to sights, sounds, people, and animals in a positive way.  Think "quality over quantity"

Did you know?

Ever noticed your dog sneezing while playing?

When dogs get excited during play, you might see them do a little "play sneeze"

It is their way of saying "I am having fun!  This is all in good spirit!"

It helps keep the mood light and lets their playmate (dog or human!) know they are not being too serious.

Next time you see your pup sneeze mid-wrestle or zoomies session, you will know-it is just their playful way of saying "This is the best time ever!"
